Nickel Allergy

Normally, these substances are harmless to an individual without the allergy, but because of the reactions the individual experiences, an allergy can actually be quite dangerous. Nickel allergy is most commonly triggered by wearing jewelry, earrings, or other accessories that include nickel. Nickel allergy is also especially uncomfortable because nickel is contained in many items that we use on a day to day basis. It can affect people in any age range, and many infants suffer from nickel allergy and grow out of it before adulthood. There are quite a few different treatments available to individuals looking to reduce the symptoms of nickel allergy.

Symptoms of Nickel Allergy

Symptoms of nickel allergy usually begin appearing 12 to 48 hours after exposure to an item containing nickel. These symptoms may continue and persist for two weeks to a month after exposure. The most common symptom of nickel allergy is allergic contact dermatitis. Symptoms of allergic contact include but are not limited to:
• Itchy, uncomfortable skin.
• Rash, bumps, or rises on the skin.
• Redness, and changes in skin color
• Draining fluid and Skin Blisters in Severe Cases
