Allergies are usually caused by seemingly harmless substances but your immune system reacts abnormally to them. Your body treats the substance as a trespasser and starts to show abnormal symptoms such as coughing, sneezing, itching, watering eyes etc.

Even though any food item can cause an allergy but there are some common allergens which do not suite a lot of people. Eight of the major food allergens are eggs, milk, fish, wheat, soy, peanuts, shellfish and tree nuts.
Sometimes, individuals who already are suffering from eczema or asthma are more prone to food allergies. Unfortunately, these reactions are more severe than usual. Depending on the severity of the condition, you can get anti-histamine medication or weekly shots if the situation gets of out of control.
Most of the people suffering from food allergies find it cumbersome to control the problem but as long as you stay self-disciplined and vigilant, you can easily control them. There are medications available in the market to alleviate the problem; however, it is important that you consult your physician or allergist before purchasing a product. A doctor is capable of identifying the exact cause and since there are so many medications available for different causes, you will get a better understands of the precise condition.
