Identifying the relationship between allergies and symptoms
Allergies are quite common these days among children as well as adults. The common symptoms of most of the allergies include watery eyes, skin rashes, chest congestion, numbness, itching, coughing, sneezing and wheezing. However, these are rather conspicuous symptoms as compared to some others which are not as visible. For instance, you suddenly realize that you are gaining weight very rapidly and there is nothing that you can do to stop it. Sometimes, a migraine triggers without any visible cause or you get a menstrual pain of a different kind unlike the usual. Sometimes, even low energy can be due to an allergy. These are rather subtle signs and we cannot easily realize the cause which could possibly be an allergy.
This might come as a surprise to you but wheat causes rapid weight gain. We literally live on wheat in the form of baked goods and processed foods such as cakes, breads, cereals, chocolate bars and even energy bars. Some diet conscious people prefer whole wheat instead of refined flour which is beneficial for health and controls allergies to a great extent.
Research suggests that allergies became a common problem after the baby boom. The newly introduced chemically treated formulas and other dairy products made the babies prone to allergies. Everybody knows the importance of mother’s milk for a baby’s health; it not only provides the required nourishment but also saves from allergies and diseases. However, due to the introduction of bottle milk, cereals and chemically prepared products, babies have been exposed to external allergens which do not go away easily.
Once you expose a vulnerable infant’s body to external threats, it is hard to undo the damage. Naturally, prevention is much more a difficult task than catching the disease. However, as long as you provide the required strength to your body, it will not react to the particular substance.
Allergies are caused when your body’s immune system reacts abnormally to a substance which is benign to most of the people. Your body tries to combat the particular substance known as an allergen but fails to do so because of lack of oxygen being provided to the white blood cells. Since white blood cells are your body’s natural army, they require a specific amount of oxygen for normal working and when that doesn’t happen; your immune system becomes weak.
In order to make your body strong, you have to have a balanced diet. You have to eat more vegetables and fruits which provide the essential minerals and vitamins. These minerals and vitamins are very beneficial for making your immune system strong. Consequently, you reduce your chances of getting allergies.
These are only preventive methods. However, if you already have caught the allergy, the most suitable treatment for you is anti-histamine medication. These are easily available at any store and you are not required to have a physician’s prescription of it. There are a number of brands available and since they are in such a great variety for different types of allergies, make sure you pick only the one which is manufactured for your specific kind of allergy.
