Gluten Allergy
Gluten allergy is one of the most common forms of allergy in the entire world. Studies show that just less than 1% of children and adults suffer from gluten allergy. An allergy occurs when your body’s immune system over reacts to a substance that it feels is a threat to your well being and health. Generally, these substances are not actually harmful, and the effects caused by the immune system can be much more uncomfortable than any affects the actual substance would have caused. It has also been found that 1 in 40 individuals who complain of gastrointestinal complications and pain actually suffer from gluten allergy or a similar disease such as celiac disease.
The best way for you to manage your allergy is to completely avoid gluten and wheat as much as possible. Individuals who suffer from celiac disease must eliminate gluten from their diet completely, which can be quite hard considering all of the products that contain gluten that we consume in our everyday lives without even thinking about it.
Symptoms of Gluten Allergy
Symptoms of gluten allergy are usually fairly mild when you have ingested a small amount of gluten. With larger amounts of gluten, the effects become much more severe and apparent. These effects include:

• Ulcers of the mouth
• Fatigue
• Iron deficiency anemia
• Osteoporosis
• Sudden weight loss
• Abdominal pain, vomiting, or diarrhea
• Crohn’s disease
• Depression
• Autism
• Skin Irritation
Symptoms can be very different between different individuals and it is important that you always receive a proper diagnosis from your doctor before beginning to take any over the counter medications to treat the symptoms of gluten allergy. Symptoms of gluten allergy are very similar to a wide array of other conditions, and the proper tests have to be run to determine that you do in fact suffer from gluten allergy and not some other more serious condition. If you have already been diagnosed with gluten allergy, try avoiding the ingestion of gluten as much as possible. Consult your doctor about what foods would be right for your diet, and how you can go about leading a normal life without ingesting gluten.
