Latex is the milky sap of the natural rubber plant, that coagulates, when exposed to air. This latex is used to manufacture many products like balloons, gloves, elastic bands, condoms, pacifiers and baby-bottle nipples, rubber toys, shoe soles, adhesive tapes, diapers and many more. It is believed that rubber latex is used in the making of over 40,000 products. Natural rubber latex and its products can trigger allergic reactions in some people. Some people are born with this allergy, whereas some others develop this allergy due to repeated exposure. Some people with latex allergy may develop allergies to some fruits like banana, kiwi, papaya, avocados and apricots. The allergic reactions may vary from mild itching and rashes to life-threatening situations.

Allergic Reactions

Symptoms of latex allergy vary from person to person. While some people develop allergic reactions, during the very first exposure, some others experience the symptoms after repeated exposure. These allergic reactions can be classified into three types. The least severe and most common of the three types is irritant contact dermatitis, which is characterized by irritation on some areas of the skin, which becomes dry and itchy. This type, commonly affects the skin of the hands and the symptoms worsen due to the powder coating on the gloves, frequent washing and incomplete drying of the hands and by using hand sanitizers.

The second type is allergic contact dermatitis. Also known as delayed hypersensitivity, this causes a severe skin rash at the site of contact with the latex product. This delayed skin rash can lead to blisters and oozing of the skin. It is believed that this type of latex allergy is caused by the chemicals used in the processing of rubber products. The third type is the most severe and life-threatening reaction called anaphylaxis, which can lead to very low blood pressure, breathing problems and sometimes even death. This reaction is common among children with myelomeningocele (birth defect involving the neural tube).

Diagnosis of Latex Allergy

There are two tests to detect latex allergy. One is by conducting a skin patch test and the other is through blood testing. The blood test is the preferred one, because the patch test may trigger immediate symptoms in some people. Blood tests like RAST (radioallergosorbent test) are used to identify the specific protein, which leads to allergic reactions. The third type of allergic reaction, which is the most severe one, is caused by proteins found in the Hevea brasiliensis rubber tree. Synthetic latex products do not trigger this type of reaction. Allergic contact dermatitis, the second type, is caused by chemicals used in the processing of rubber and the test identifies the chemical, which is causing the reaction. This type of reaction may be due to the use of both natural and synthetic rubber products.

It is observed that health workers and industrial rubber workers are more prone to latex allergy, as they are exposed to latex and its products for long periods. Some children with myelomeningocele and people who have undergone many surgical procedures are also prone to this allergy. At present, there is no treatment to eliminate this problem completely, but symptoms are treated with antihistamines, adrenaline, and steroids. If you experience such reactions, contact your doctor immediately, to avoid further complications. However, the best way to prevent this allergy is to refrain from using latex products.

In the United States, half the number of households owns either a cat or a dog as pets. However, it is just a little unfortunate that many people are allergic to cats, which discourages them from owning one, despite their fondness for these loving domestic animals. In fact, there are about 10 million Americans who have shown allergic tendencies to cats.

To help manage cat allergies, let us focus on the specific forms of cat allergies. The first one would be dander, which is dust coming from the cat’s body. Dander is a term used to refer to old skin that is shed off from the cat’s body in the forms of minute flakes.

Aside from causing skin irritation, dander also penetrates the immune system, which consequently causes allergic reactions. Once it enters the immune system, it becomes a problem, and although, it is not a disease-producing element, it can certainly cause problems with people prone to allergies.

Cats spread allergens in many ways – blood, saliva, and urine. Even after the cat has left the area, his excretions can still bring about problems. You will find these things all around the house as the cat’s daily routine such as licking, scratching, and rubbing, makes it possible to do so.

Allergic Reactions to Cats

Commonly, if a person is allergic to cats, it is shown by the following signs and symptoms:

- Sneezing
- Wheezing
- Coughing
- Itching
- Watery eyes
- Difficulty in breathing

Other times, although rarely, fever and chills are experienced, and this is when you need to get medical help right away because this could be a sign of an underlying condition. Take note, however, that people may show varying signs and symptoms of cat allergies, and not all the symptoms above could be present.

Treatment

The most common treatment of cat allergies is decongestants and antihistamines. When do you take these? You take decongestants if you are coughing or have stuffy nose. You take antihistamines if you have asthma attacks, and breathing becomes difficult.

Additionally, there is also an option to get allergy shots, but this will depend on your doctor’s decision so you may want to consult with him about it. Not only do these cat allergy shots treat the problem, they also help prevent its occurrence.

It is best to get hold of your doctor, if you think you are suffering from cat allergies. This qualified medical practitioner should be able to advise you on the necessary steps you need to take, and this may include taking of medication or allergy shots. Your doctor may also advise you to get rid of your cat, if he deems it is best for you to do so.

Cats are wonderful creatures – warm and loving. Kids and adults alike love cats. However, there may come a point when we have to give them away, especially if they are already causing problems to our body, and to our health. This can be a difficult thing to do if you have grown so attached to your pet, but if it is the only recommended way to stop cat allergies then you should learn to let go.

Causes and Concerns
Hay fever causes the body’s immune system to over react, in the presence of external substances, as if it related to an environment of toxic elements. This results in irritation and inflammation, in the body at large. Often hay fever runs in families and it can also be related to asthma and eczema. It is quite common to find a family with some members affected with asthma, some with hay fever, and still others with eczema. Any individual might have more than one of these conditions.

Symptoms The symptoms vary from person to person and often involve sneezing, runny/blocked nose, (which I must mention is truly ridiculous) red, watery, and itchy eyes, with an associated itchy throat. Very often there is also a wheezy chest, which really suggests a degree of asthma. Unfortunately the peak pollen time is the early summer when school and university examinations take place resulting in sufferers finding it extremely difficult to revise and to perform well in the actual examinations.

Causes of Hay fever Different pollens are present at different times of year. So its really difficult to gauge which pollen might have affected you, or the type of pollen that you may be allergic to. There are of course several factors that include both weather and air quality that might only aggravate the situation that you already are in.

Treatment There are various treatments, available over the counter from a pharmacist, though antihistamine tablets or medicine are known to reduce the overall effect on the body of one of the main chemicals released by the allergic response. There are nasal sprays containing steroids and other substances that reduce the local inflammatory response in the nose. There are also eye drops with similar effects on the eye. It is important to note that people with asthmatic symptoms need treatment as for asthma and not for hay fever.

Occasionally the doctor may consider it necessary to prescribe either tablets containing steroids, or possibly an injection to ease your problem. These may have more serious side effects than the other treatments, so it’s your pick really to weigh the possible benefits have against the possible disadvantages. There are injection treatments to de-sensitize patients against the substance they may be allergic to. Unfortunately these can bring on serious reactions, and can only be given under close hospital supervision, and are thus hardly ever used.

Prevention Although you cannot really change the natural occurrences, there may be several ways to prevent them in these situations as well. These include:
* In the summer stay inside between 5pm and 7pm, when pollen counts are usually high. Keep windows and doors closed, especially at these times and also while sleeping.
* Use an air conditioner or filter when possible, at home, work, and in the car, to remove pollen and other allergens from the air.
* Damp dust and vacuum your home regularly, to minimize the presence of pollen and dust.
* Airing bedclothes in direct sunlight is also helpful.
* Be aware of the pollen count (usually broadcast along with the weather), and avoid areas of high pollen concentration, e.g. long grass, lawn mowings, and trees if allergic to these. If you need to work in these environments consider wearing a mask and goggles.
Avoid unnecessary extra irritants such as smoke and chemical fumes. These are suggestive measures for you to reflect and them implement upon to save your health from these miniature forms of natural disasters.

An allergy or an allergic reaction can be considered as a disorder of the immune system, where it becomes hypersensitive and perceives even harmless substances like dust and pollen as foreign and harmful. So in order to destroy them, the immune system attacks them and in the process releases chemicals like histamine, that produces allergic reactions and causes symptoms such as sneezing, nasal congestion, headaches, asthma, hives and skin rashes. The same set of symptoms may be experienced by some individuals in the presence of strong smells or fragrances, known as fragrance allergies or perfume allergies. So fragrance allergies specifically refers to the allergic reactions triggered by the fragrance found in a range of products including perfumes, soaps, detergents, candle, hair products, cosmetics, skin lotions and foods. Let’s have a look at exactly what causes fragrance allergies.

Causes of Fragrance allergy

Though most of us tend to blame the fragrance for the allergic reactions produced, many experts believe that it is actually caused by the chemicals used for producing such fragrances. And so even unscented products, that use a host of chemicals to suppress the scent, can also produce such chemical allergies. However, it is very difficult to determine whether a particular or a combination of different chemicals cause fragrance allergies. Many experts also believe that many of the chemicals used in the manufacturing of such fragrant products are irritants. So skin rashes as well as breathing problems, are because of irritation caused by such chemicals and not allergic reactions.

Out of a large number of chemicals, only a few of them have been suspected to be associated with most of the allergies. They are cinnamonic alcohol, cinnamic aldehyde, eugenol, isoeugenol, geraniol, alpha amyl cinnamic alcohol, hydroxycitronellal and oak moss absolute. These chemicals are mainly used in perfumes, deodorants, cosmetics, soaps, detergents, toothpaste, mouthwash, colognes, personal hygiene products, pharmaceutical creams and lotions. Even air fresheners can induce allergies or allergic reactions in individuals who are vulnerable to respiratory diseases. In addition to these chemicals like acetone, benzyl acetate, benzyl alcohol, benyldehyde, camphor, ethanol and ethyl acetate, may also cause irritation of the skin and respiratory tract.

Symptoms of Fragrance Allergy

The common fragrance allergy symptoms are similar to that of typical allergic reactions like sneezing, a runny nose, headaches, inability to concentrate, skin irritation like rashes, hives and eczema. It can also cause nausea and dizziness, breathing difficulties, asthma-like symptoms and irritation of the eyes and the nose. For some, these symptoms disappear once that particular smell or scent is out of range, while others are likely to experience more frequent, prolonged and severe symptoms with each repeated exposure.

Though the symptoms of fragrance allergy are same as the common allergic reactions produced by allergens like dust and pollen, experts think that considerable differences exist between these two types of allergies. In the case of common allergies, the immune system perceives the allergens as invaders and in order to destroy them, releases chemicals that trigger allergic reactions. On the other hand, fragrant materials are not protein based and are also too minute to be detected by the body. But when they come in contact with skin, they modify skin proteins by binding with them and the immune system mistakes such modified proteins for foreign substances. As a result, it attacks such proteins and causes an allergy.

The best way to prevent fragrance allergies is to avoid the particular substance. Along with perfumed products, non-scented products can also produce allergic reactions, as they often contain a number of chemicals in order to mask the scent. Therefore, it is important to try any new product on a small patch of skin for a few days to see if it causes an allergy. But if you are highly sensitive to fragrant products, it is better to visit a physician or a dermatologist to know more about allergy relief and the precautions to be followed in order to prevent the occurrence of fragrance allergy.

Itchy red bumps on the skin usually appear either as a single red bumpy rash on the face and other areas, or as a cluster of raised red bumps, that can eventually spread to the entire body. Sometimes, these skin bumps can also enlarge and create red and large swollen patches on the skin. Numerous factors ranging from insect bites and allergies to skin diseases like eczema, psoriasis, and scabies can be responsible for causing skin rashes and itchy red bumps. So it can be quite difficult at times to diagnose this skin condition. Let’s take a look some of the most common causes behind these red bumps and rashes.

Causes of Itchy Red Bumps
One of the most common causes for sudden development of raised red bumps on skin is an allergy. Again, an allergic reaction can be triggered by several factors including certain foods, medications or reaction to specific environmental allergens like dust, mites and pollen. Allergic reaction are actually caused by the hypersensitivity of the immune system. Generally, the immune system reacts in order to protect our body from the invasion of foreign harmful particles like virus, bacteria and fungus. But, sometimes it may become hypersensitive to certain foreign but harmless substances, called allergens, and release chemicals like histamine that produce allergic reactions, which can manifest in various forms including skin rashes and respiratory problems.

In many instances, it has been observed that skin bumps are nothing but insect bites, especially bed bug or fleas bites. Insect bites can produce itchy and painful red bumps, which can be easily identified by the small red dot present at the center of the bumps. Itching skin bumps can also be caused by a disease, known as scabies. This diseases usually produces red bumps with extremely intense itching, more common in areas like the wrist, webbing of the hands and feet, armpit, elbows and genital areas, i.e. the places which are warm and where skin makes folds or creases. If you are experiencing red bumpy face rash, due to which your face has got a flushed appearance, then it may be Rocacea, a common skin condition in adolescents. Acne red bumps are also common in young individuals, at times, small red bumps on face can eventually turn into pimples or cysts.Eczema is another skin condition associated with inflamed itchy patches on skin. One of the most common forms of eczema is atopic dermatitis, which is a hereditary disease. Its outbreaks are more frequent in winter, due to the dry environment. It causes red swollen bumps that can crust discharging body fluid. Contact dermatitis can also cause itchy red bumps, especially when the skin comes in contact with some specific material that can be found in detergents, perfumes, and even jewelry. It generally causes localized skin rashes, particularly on the the areas which come in contact with such material. In addition to these common factors, there can be several other causes for itchy and red skin bumps, like measles (if accompanied by fever and sore throat), psoriasis, folliculitis, shingles and hidradenitis suppurativa to name a few.

Treatment for Itchy Red Bumps
Treatment of any skin disease depends on the underlying factors and it also applies to itchy and dry red bumps or skin rashes. For scabies, generally topical ointments as well as oral ivermectin tablets are used. Along with medications, personal hygiene can play an important role in preventing scabies. In eczema, OTC hydrocortizone cream can provide some relief, though it is also important to protect your skin from dryness by keeping it moisturized and hydrated. For contact dermatitis and allergy red bumps, avoid the specific substances that can trigger their outbreaks. Application of topical steroids like hydrocortisone may be helpful in contact dermatitis, while for allergies, the standard practice is to administer antihistamine medications.

Initially, some topical ointments and creams containing camphor, menthol or diphenhydramine may provide relief in skin bumps or rashes. Many individuals have benefited from antihistamine medications like diphenhydramine and loratadine, but it is advisable to avoid their overuse. If the occurrence of skin rashes and itchy red bumps are very frequent and lasts for several days, it is better to consult a physician or dermatologist to find out the actual underlying causes. Only a proper diagnosis can help to alleviate and prevent this skin condition.

With environmental degradation comes a whole host of medical complications, the most common being allergies due to pollution or loose flying debris. These allergies have become chronic allergies in many cases. How to cure allergies will help you find a cure to your problem.

How to Cure Allergies?

If you are prone to allergies, then it is important that you be careful with over-the-counter medicines. Chances are high that these medicines will contain pain relievers like Ibuprofen, Acetaminophen and the likes. These medicines put undue stress on the liver. The liver in its bid to detoxify creates more mucus, which aggravates the condition instead of alleviating it.

The best remedy for an allergic cure is to cleanse the digestive system. A fungus called candida disturbs the immune system of the body, due to which there is over production of histamine, giving rise to allergies. Once the digestive system is cleaned, the immune system is able to function well and you are cured of allergies. There are many natural allergy cures which you can use as a cure for allergies. Natural Allergy Cure

Application of sandalwood powder mixed with lime juice to the affected part provides relief from itching and soothes the area as well.

Prepare a paste of garden mint mixed with water. Filter the mixture and add sugar to it and consume the juice twice a day.

Applying lemon juice mixed in coconut oil on the affected area also soothes the area.

Mix two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar in a glass of water and drink the mixture. This mixture will cure you of your allergies.

The next is one of the most trusted methods to treat an allergy. Mix one teaspoon of Castor-oil either with vegetable or fruit juice. Drink this mixture first thing in the morning for allergy relief.

Mix carrot juice with cucumber and beetroot juice. This is one of the easiest home remedies for allergies.

Increase the consumption of Omega-3 essential fatty acids, as these acids counteract the inflammatory response of the body. Salmon and flaxseed are rich source of Omega-3 essential fatty acids.

Consumption of locally produced honey works very well for allergies. This is true as the honey is produced from local pollen. These pollen reduce the reaction felt by the body.

Consuming yogurt also helps in curing allergies, as yogurt contains bacteria which are helpful for the body.

Cure for Food Allergy

At some point everyone’s body gives an unpleasant reaction to certain types of food consumed. This unpleasant reaction is due to an allergy to the particular food consumed. Statistically about 1% of adults and 3% of children suffer from food allergies. Very often people confuse the two terms; food allergy and food intolerance. Food intolerance is not life threatening unlike food allergies. Food intolerance is the incapacity of the body to digest a particular food. Food allergy symptoms include itchy hives, swelling, problems with the digestive system, etc.

Foods to which most people are allergic to are eggs, milk, wheat, yeast, corn, peanuts, tree nuts, fish, sugar and soy. Milk allergy symptoms include eczema, hives, vomiting, etc. You will have to monitor the kinds of food which you are allergic to. I agree it is a cumbersome job, but you will have to conduct a test on yourself. For this you will have to make a note of all that you have consumed. You will have to perform some permutations and combination’s to know the food you are indeed allergic to. Once you know the food you are allergic to, curing it becomes easy. The most simplest cure for allergies caused by food is to avoid that particular food totally. You should not be your own doctor and stop the food yourself. Consult your health care professional, as there should not be any kind of imbalance created in your diet due to your abstaining from certain foods.

With how to cure allergies, you will be able to cure your allergies in the most effective way possible without having to shed even a bit of comfort, or experience pain. In case of severe allergies, you may want to take an antihistamine till you reach the doctor.

Dust mites belong to the same class as spiders and scorpions. They are barely 0.3 millimeters in size, and therefore not easily visible to the naked eye. They are mainly found within mattresses, bed sheets, pillows, carpets, upholstered furniture, soft toys etc. Due to this they are also known as bed mites. You will be surprised to know that a double bed may contain more than 2 million dust mites! They survive well in places with high humidity and in the temperature range of 65 to 80 degrees Fahrenheit. Dust mites feed themselves with dead human skin. They absorb water from the atmosphere. Normally, our body sheds about one ounce of dead skin scales every month, which get trapped in the fibers of cushions, carpets, bed linens, etc., making these places the ideal habitat for dust mites.

Causes of Dust Mite Allergy

Dust mite allergy is not caused due to the bites of dust mites. Our body gets allergies by the waste matter released by the dust mites, and the decayed bodies of dust mites, which is then inhaled by us. Proteins present in these substances is what causes the dust mite allergy. When these allergens enter the body, our immune system assumes it to be a toxic substance like bacteria, virus etc. As a result, it releases antibody substances to protect us. Thus, it becomes so sensitive to this particular substance, that every time we inhale any debris of dust mites, it promptly responds by causing inflammation in the air passages like nasal cavity or lungs.

Symptoms of Dust Mite Allergy

When the dust mite allergy causes inflammation of nasal passage only, the symptoms are less severe. They may include: runny nose, itchiness in the nose, throat and eyes, frequent sneezing, cough, swelling of the eyes, watery eyes, etc. Usually, children tend to rub their nose frequently in the upward direction due to congestion in the nasal passage. When this condition persists for a long time, people often experience facial pressure and pain. In some people, eczema or atopic dermatitis has also been observed. Sometimes, this allergen can cause sudden blockage in the air passage. Improvement in the allergic symptoms can be seen when the patient stays out of the house.

When the exposure to the allergen is for a prolonged period of time, the inflammation becomes chronic and gives rise to asthma. In such a condition, dust mite allergy symptoms include breathing difficulty, a whistling sound every time the patient is exhaling, feeling of tightness in the chest, bouts of continuous coughing, and allergic rhinitis. It is often found that in asthmatic condition, patients find it difficult to fall asleep due to the shortness of breath or frequent bouts of coughing. It is further worsened if the patient gets infected by the cold or flu virus.

Diagnosis and Treatment

Doctors can diagnose dust mite allergy from its symptoms. They often monitor the breathing of the patient. Then an allergy skin test is done, where purified extracts of dust mites are pricked into the skin surface and allowed to stay there for 15 minutes to see if the skins shows any signs of allergic reaction. Blood tests are also conducted to confirm the presence of allergens. As such, there is no definite treatment that can treat dust mite allergy. The only thing that can be done is to reduce the adverse effects of the symptoms. Doctors prescribe antihistamine drugs for quick allergy relief. Nasal sprays are given to bring down the inflammation of the air passage. Oral decongestants are administered to lessen the swelling of the tissues in the nasal passage. When the patient becomes asthmatic, drugs for asthma treatment are also prescribed. Some doctors suggest rinsing of the nasal passage with saline water to reduce the nasal congestion. Specific syringes are available for this purpose, in which a solution of warm water and salt is taken and administered into the nose.

Thus, you can see that it is very important to identify dust mite allergy symptoms in order to start the treatment as soon as possible. If the treatment starts when the symptoms are still mild, it is more likely that one can prevent it from turning severe.

Itchy skin bumps are annoying, distracting and irritating. Fortunately, there are a number of natural treatments available for itchy skin bumps. The most effective ones are illustrated in this article. However, it will be highly beneficial if we first concentrate on the reasons behind the occurrence of itchy skin bumps so that you can prevent it in the future.

Causes of Itchy Skin Bumps

Allergy: One of the most common causes of itchy skin bumps all over the body is allergy. Some people are allergic to animal hair while some are allergic to pollen. In fact, the allergy can be a response to a topical skin cream, a shampoo or particular chemicals such as sodium laureth sulfate. When such things come in contact with your body, your immune system produces a mild response known as an allergic reaction. The reaction may involve formation of bumps and lumps on the skin, accompanied with itching and a burning sensation. Insect Bites: Formation of itchy skin bumps on hands, face, legs or any other body part that is generally left exposed, can be due to insect bites. When an insect bites you, it injects its saliva. The saliva, being a foreign substance, acts as an antigen and stimulates the immune system of your body, which leads to a series of reactions. Appearance of itchy red bumps on the skin, is part of such a reaction. Skin Diseases: Various skin diseases such as psoriasis, dermatitis, eczema, folliculitis, hidradenitis suppurativa and shingles (herpes zoster) can also give you itchy skin bumps. Treatment of Itchy Skin Bumps

Applying essential oils such as lavender and rosemary on itchy skin bumps can provide a soothing and comforting effect.

Mix one tablespoon of jojoba (or any nut oil), one tablespoon of tea tree oil and three tablespoons of neem oil. Keep it in a refrigerator, in order to cool it. Apply it on the itchy skin rash before going to bed at night. It will reduce the itching and the irritation.

Spread cucumber juice or place a slice of cucumber on the itchy skin bumps and lumps for a quick recovery.

Aloe vera, equipped with both antiseptic and antibiotic properties, reduces swelling and itching in the affected area.

Another natural itchy skin bumps treatment that you can try in the comfort of your home is turmeric powder. Make a paste by mixing one tablespoon of turmeric powder with a few drops of milk. Spread it on the itchy skin bumps on arms, face or any other body part. Leave it on for about 10 minutes. Turmeric gives you fast, positive results because of its antiseptic properties.

Honey is well known for its antiseptic, soothing, and healing effects. Apply it on the affected area for about 15-20 minutes, and then wash it off with water.

A medicated bath can also lend some comfort. Fill half a bathtub with warm water. Add half a cup of baking soda and cornstarch. Mix well and soak yourself in it for about 10 minutes. This will also help reduce irritation and itching.

Apply fresh milk on itchy skin bumps as this fastens the healing process and reduces the redness and swelling.

Over-the-counter antihistamines and antibiotics can provide relief and comfort. Read more on allergy relief.

In case the aforementioned natural remedies for itchy skin bumps do not help to a great extent, and you don’t notice any improvement in the swelling, redness and itchiness in the affected area, you must visit a dermatologist for necessary medical assistance.

I am very susceptible to scratchy throat allergies. These allergies are at times unexplainable and also very irritating. My productivity is at its lowest best when I am suffering from these scratchy throat allergies.

Allergy
Allergy more often than not is an inherited condition. The immune system reacts to something that is eaten, touched or inhaled. The substance is treated as an enemy by the immune system and attacked. This affects the normal day-to-day functioning of the person. A person can have allergy to anything on the face of this earth. The substances, which causes allergies, are called as allergens. Dust pollen, molds and animal dander are the most common allergens. Allergic condition affects about one in four people in the United States of America. Therefore, it is said to be one of the most costly health problems. Read here on how to cure allergies.

Scratchy Throat Allergies
End of winter is normally the time when people are affected with scratchy throat allergies. The trees and plants that are coaxed back to life from the miserable winters, trigger miserable sneezing and sniffling. The most common ear – nose – throat allergies are hay fever, asthma, etc.

Hay fever, also known as ‘Allergic Rhinitis’, is an allergy caused by pollen or dust. This condition affects people only during certain pollen seasons. The common pollen allergy symptoms are sneezing, nasal congestion, scratchy throat or sore throat, headache and watery eyes. Antihistamines are normally used to treat this condition. It is best to avoid to allergens, which trigger this condition. Keep the house free of allergens like molds, dust, pollen and spores. The bare minimum exposure a person has to pollens, the less will he be affected with this condition.

Using an air conditioner is a good option as it filters the pollens. If you have a headache, using wet compress can help in alleviating the condition. The best idea is to keep the sleeping area free of dust collectors like stuffed animals. Use a cover on your mattress and pillow cover, this will keep dust away from them. Read to know more on natural remedies for allergies.

Nasal allergies cause itching in the throat, itching at the roof of the mouth as well as inside the nostrils. Like I have mentioned, in case of hay fever, it is best to keep the allergens away. The person will have to be on the watch and figure out, what is that causes nasal allergies. Read nasal allergy medications for more information.

Oral Allergy Syndrome (OAS) causes itching in the mouth after consumption of some food items. It is probably, due to consumption of pollen producing plants, vegetables and fruits. Often it is seen that, people who have Oral Allergy Syndrome, are allergic to banana, chamomile, sunflower seed, zucchini, cucumber, etc.

One of the simplest way to treat any kind of nasal allergy or scratchy throat is to gargle with warm salt water. The other simple tips, which will help you with scratchy throat allergies are plenty of rest, keeping yourself well hydrated, hot baths and steam. Humidifying the room also helps in relieving nasal congestion. Read for more information on allergy relief.

To keep allergies, including scratchy throat allergies, at bay take some preventive measures like healthy eating habits, drink a lot of fluids, frequently wash your hands, avoid crowded areas, last but not the least take ample amount of rest.

Bee pollen containing the male reproductive gametes of flowers and the digestive enzymes of bees is an excellent antioxidant and also considered to be rich in vitamins, minerals, enzymes and amino acids. This is why it is most often touted as the richest and most complete food on earth. It is often used to combat gastric discomfort and to ease digestion. Bee pollen for allergies is known to be an effective remedy for allergic reactions like hay fever and other ailments like bronchitis and migraine headaches. In addition to that bee pollen is also believed to be an effective anti aging supplement and is also used to increase the energy levels of athletes. As a nutritional supplement, bee pollen is usually consumed as a pill or capsule that ranges from 500-1000 milligrams in consistency. However, even this herbal, all natural product is not without its side effects. Here are some bee pollen dangers to watch out for.

Dangers of Bee Pollen

The pollen in flowering plants is created by the male part of the plant. Bees which flit from one flower to the other carry pollen along with it. This process also aids in cross pollination and fertilization of the plant. Some of the flower pollen make it back to the bee hive where bee keepers collect it to prepare nutritional supplements. However, there are certain bee pollen dangers which cannot be ignored.

Allergies: For people who are prone to allergies from bee stings or people suffering from asthma, bee pollen might result in certain allergic side effects. This might sound a bit ironic since one of the uses of bee pollen is to relieve allergic symptoms. While a mild allergy may result in wheezing and rashes, severe cases may cause an allergic reaction called anaphylaxis. Other symptoms of mild bee pollen allergies include:

Itchy throat

Wheezing

Facial itching

Coughing

Hives

Skin flushinga

A severe bee pollen allergy may result in the person going into an anaphylactic shock. This may also cause certain repercussions like:

Breathing problems

Convulsions

Unconsciousness

Death

Toxins: Since bee pollen originates from various flowers, some of which are located in environmentally hazardous environments, ingesting them could result in the intake of certain toxins into the body. Another reason is because farming techniques include the spraying of insecticides, pesticides and other chemical fertilizers. This may lead to the contamination of the pollen grains with unnatural, toxic elements.

Nausea: One of the milder bee pollen dangers include nausea or upset stomach. However, if the nausea is persistent for several days, stop consuming the bee pollen.

Pregnancy: Pregnant and nursing women should not take bee pollen supplements as the possible effects of pollen have not been studied on the growing fetus.

Appropriate Dosage of Bee Pollen

People who are allergic to bee stings are advised not to consume bee pollen as it may result in a severe allergic reaction. Before intaking bee pollen, try taking just a little pollen at first to see if you have any of the tell tale allergic symptoms. In the absence of any obvious symptoms you can continue consuming bee pollen based on the appropriate dosage guidelines. Most manufacturers stipulate safe dosage recommendations on their packaging. So people who are not allergic to bee pollen and take the dosage specified by manufacturers, should not be any worried about bee pollen dangers.

Did you know that bee pollen is one of the world’s oldest health foods, of which references are found in Ancient religious books like the Bible, the Koran as well as ancient Chinese and Egyptian texts. While its apparent health and healing benefits are well known, it is important that you buy high quality bee pollen to avoid the side effects. Some bee pollen have been found to be contaminated with harmful toxic chemicals, ingesting which may cause several, unknown health risks. So to minimize the bee pollen dangers and to reap the health benefits of bee pollen it is advised that you look for bottles that have a certificate of analysis on them. This indicates that the bee pollen has been checked for contaminants. As a cautionary note, before consuming nutritional supplements take the advice of a competent health care practitioner.
