Allergens: Control them in your house

An allergic reaction is set off by impurities in the air. Such impurities are called allergens. An allergen is foreign to your body and leads to a severe reaction in the human body. Many substances can lead to allergies but the most common are pollen and smoke. The living environment houses many allergy causing animals and plants. Both outdoor and indoor allergens can cause an allergy to develop in the human body.

As soon as you start feeling the symptoms, the first thing to do is find out what you are allergic to. Once you know that, eliminating that allergen is the second step to recovery. For instance, if a new pet is giving you an allergic reaction then you have to decide how to keep the pet indoors or avoid contact with it.

Why should you keep a check on allergens in your house?
1. You can feel better sooner just by controlling the allergens indoors.
2. After that, reducing your allergic signs will be easier and you might recover even without taking medicine.
3. Regularly dust your house and wash all bed linens with warm water. This will reduce accumulation of dust. Dust is dangerous because it is a combination of allergens like mold spores and dried food particles.
4. Confine pets to certain areas of your house to avoid contact with pet allergens. Such allergens can easily trigger reactions in the body.
5. Indoor plants kept in wicker baskets breed allergens as well.
6. Kerosene heaters and wood-burning stoves can produce allergy-causing smoke in your house. Opt for air tight stoves which do not leak smoke.

Apart from the above mentioned sources of allergens in your house, you need to open your eyes and see what else is causing allergies in your household. Enhance the nutrients in your daily diet and strengthen your immune system against allergens.

Staying away from allergens is the best remedy even though it is not followed all the time.
